Health insurance is the one thing you should not leave home without. You never know what fate will hand you between one step and the next and it is not expensive.  Even within Canada, not all provinces have equal coverage for items like ambulance transfers and prescriptions. When we are older, the price goes up, but the risk is real, and all the more reason to travel insured. 

Cancellation insurance can really pay off and a moment's pause to reflect on what you can lose is worthwhile. If you are relying on your credit card, double check the coverage that is provided. You can't afford nasty surprises about time limits and exclusions.
